Privacy Policy

This policy is short because we collect very little. Kontrl is designed so that the sensitive things — where your child is, what they do on their phone — never reach us at all.

What we collect

• Your account. When you sign in with Apple we receive a user identifier, and your name if you choose to share it. Your child's device uses an anonymous identifier and no account.
• Your family's settings. The schedules, modes and places you configure, and the name you give your child's device.
• Requests. When your child asks for more time: the app's name, an optional short message they write, and your decision.
• Device health. A periodic check-in from your child's device (a timestamp and whether protection is running), so we can tell you if it stops working. A push token lets your changes reach the device.
• Coarse usage milestones. Whether restricted apps passed rough thresholds (such as one hour) in a day. Never exact figures, never per-app detail.

What we never collect

• Location. Place rules are checked on your child's own phone. Their position never leaves it, is never stored, and is not visible to you or to us. There is no location history anywhere.
• App usage detail. Apple keeps Screen Time data on the device; it cannot be sent to us and we do not try.
• Messages, browsing, photos, contacts — none of it. Kontrl has no access to any of these.
• Analytics. No analytics or crash-reporting libraries are included, on either phone.

Where it lives

Your family's settings are stored with Google Firebase (Firestore) in the United Kingdom (europe-west2). They are readable only by your family's signed-in devices, enforced by server-side security rules.

Deleting everything

Settings → Delete account in the app permanently deletes your account, your family's settings and the request history, and releases your child's device from management. There is nothing to request from us by email, though you are welcome to ask: support@kontrl.app.

Children

Kontrl is a tool for parents. The child's side of the app collects nothing beyond what the features above require, uses an anonymous identifier, and includes no advertising, analytics or third-party content.

Changes

If this policy changes materially we will say so in the app before the change takes effect.
